RECORDING
Day rate: $600
I book in terms of days and half days. A day typically starts around 9 AM and lasts for however long you, your bandmates, and I are comfortable working for (typically around 8 hours). This way we don't have to rush any part of the creative or technical aspects of capturing your art.
I also have a spare bedroom upstairs, so come stay with me to make some music. I'm conveniently 15 minutes from the airport. Included are all amenities you would typically find in an AirBNB (bed, microwave, fridge, etc.). I also have a PS2 and old CRT TV... It's pretty cool.​

First Wave Recording Studios makes it a priority to create fulfilling, beautiful art for people of all backgrounds, so I offer payment plans as well as per-project rates for larger works (albums, livestreams, installations, etc.) on a case-by-case basis. MIXING
Per song: $300
My mixing process is focused on managing communication, creativity, and expectations. So for that reason, I prefer being able to mix with you around, so we can hear the same things together. That being said, I'm making it a priority to work with artists with all sorts of backgrounds, and so I've made some changes to my system.

My mixing process is now primarily a remote system where we can communicate, provide feedback, and receive revisions like we would in person. You can schedule consultations with me to discuss creative vision, I can share my screen and audio to you over Zoom so you can hear what I hear, and we can communicate over email, text, or call to provide guidance for different mix versions.

After an initial consultation to discuss creative vision and direction, you'll send me the individual tracks that you've recorded, and I'll organize them in my computer and then send you a preliminary mix. For more information, see this FWRS pre-mixing checklist.

From there we can schedule additional Zoom sessions to fine tune the mix where you can listen in and see what I'm seeing. I find this approach much more rewarding than endless text notes and sharing dozens of mix versions. At the end of the day, music is a collaborative experience that I want to share with you!​

MASTERING
Per song: $100
If I have produced, recorded, and mixed your record, I would strongly recommend bringing the sonic signature of your music into the hands of another creative! Mastering is the perfect stage for that. I know many great mastering engineers that can offer beautiful analog masters. Please ask, and I'll be happy to refer you.

All that being said, if you still really, really, really, really want me to master your music too. I would be honored to do so. My mastering process is very similar to my mixing process, but with a greater emphasis on format translation, metadata, loudness metrics, and, sometimes, raw analog grit (and plenty of other audio jargon that may or may not actually matter).
